Milk First: Our Founding Years
Milk Specialties Global was founded in a Minnesota farm town in the 1950s. Our sole mission at the time was to produce and deliver a nutritional milk formula for dairy calves. With time we developed a wide range of milk products and milk protein replacers – not only for calves, but also for other animals and for humans. Today, Milk Specialties Global Animal Nutrition supports dairy operators, livestock producers, and equine enthusiasts with a wide spectrum of ready-made and custom milk replacers, fats, and other energy supplements for young and growing animals.
A flagship product is the milk powder used in Milk Specialties Animal Nutrition and in our Specialty Nutrition division for human use. We produce the most bioavailable form of milk protein powder on the market by starting with farm-fresh milk, employing three types of high-tech filters, and finishing with low-heat drying. Our process retains the natural state and functionality of milk proteins to help promote active health.
The Year 2000: Animal Nutrition Takes Off
Milk Specialties Global was built on dairy solutions. After five decades of success in that arena, plus expansion into nutritional pet food and other science-based products, we formed Milk Specialties Global Specialty Nutrition in 2000. Devoted to specialty animal nutrition, this division helps promote the lifelong well-being of cows, swine, horses, and domestic animals with specialty fats, proteins, and energy boosters. Examples include Start to Finish Equine Health Solutions, RumIn8 – which improves the protein availability of food for ruminants – and Energy Booster 100, a product that helps cows quickly recuperate from calving.
2010 Brings Nutraceuticals Launch
Nutraceuticals is the most recent addition to our Milk Specialties family. The new company division is especially dedicated to developing healthful functional fats and other oils. Product examples include Omega 3 fatty acid powders and medium chain triglycerides. Milk Specialties Nutraceuticals also features phytosterols, tocotrienols (Vitamin E), capsicum extract, probiotics, and other products that promote human health and well-being.
Research and Development
Milk Specialties Global has a rich past, but we look to the future. We maintain full-time research and development personnel who confer with a dedicated scientific advisory board. Working together, our food processors, chemical engineers, flavoring chemists, and other team members take a holistic approach that delivers superior results.
Most recently, our innovative specialties global product development team has been working with Omega 3 fatty acid powders and gluten-free glutamine peptide hydrolysates. As our company enters its next generation, we continue to be pioneers in developing top quality science-based nutritional products.
